The Reynolds-Beers House

Located at 1740 Foxon Road (Route 80) in North Branford, the Reynolds-Beers House shares a “campus” with the Atwater Memorial Library. The entrance driveway is to the east of the Library and ample parking is available. The Reynolds-Beers House was built by Hezekiah Reynolds in 1786 and was acquired by the Town of North Branford in 1997. It is now maintained and operated as a museum and learning center for local history by the Totoket Historical Society, Inc. The gambrel-roofed house, with its three dormers, two sided chimneys, four corner fireplaces and double folding front doors is unique in North Branford. The two ells on the back or east side were added at different times during the 19th century. The south ell has Greek Revival style elements and the north ell housed the kitchen, pantry and a seldom found interior dug well. Many of the interior features are original, particularly the ornate paneling which is unusual in a house this size.
